Thirty years after the fun of waterfall and reef aquarium keeping, we see that many of its methods have become popular and new ideas and thoughts have emerged and then faded over time.
Many of these methods last for a while, but others disappear quickly as soon as the person achieves a better method. To look at examples like this, one has to look at the history of the reef (a collection of corals and rocks side by side). Large skimmers and calcium reactors all came into being years ago.
We know that more sophisticated and expensive models are better (or so it seems). Today, no one seems to want to use skimming, and most people use solutions, What used to be a dramatic change in the past, LED lamps are no longer a fad, but they are now widely used because they are an important part of the aquarium, like a computer monitoring system.
